Dengan meningkatnya perhatian akan keselamatan oleh industri aviasi, pengetatan peraturan ICAO/IATA yang mengatur tentang pengiriman Baterai Lithium, sehingga airline terkait pun telah memberlakukan peraturan tersebut dengan ketat.

Pengantaran materi terkait yang aman melalui udara dan sesuai dengan peraturan dari ICAO/IATA merupakan tanggung jawab sepenuhnya dari pihak pengirim. Terkait dengan fakta tersebut, IATA telah membuat panduan untuk membantu pengirim memahami dan mematuhi peraturan tersebut.

Pengiriman berisi Baterai Lithium memerlukan penanda Baterai Lithium atau label Baterai Lithium membutuhkan persetujuan akun Barang Berbahaya.

Baterai Lithium metal dikemas sesuai dengan instruksi pengemasan 968 Section II (Baterai Lithium loose metal) dilarang di dalam network DHL Time Definite

Baterai Lithium dikemas sesuai dengan instruksi pengemasan 965 dilarang di dalam pesawat penumpang, DHL Express menawarkan layanan yang terbatas.

Baterai Lithium yang diketahui atau dicurigai rusak atau cacat menimbulkan risiko keamanan untuk personil dan barang dan tidak diperbolehkan berada di pesawat dalam situasi apapun.
Ketika diketahui atau dicurigai bahwa Baterai Lithium terdapat pada laptop, telepon genggam atau peralatan lainnya, baterai harus dilepas sebelum DHL dapat menerima kiriman.
